A 16-year-old is dead after an early-morning crash in Saskatoon, police say.

Earlier on Sunday, Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) said they were investigating a collision on the 4200 block of Taylor Street East, where both traffic lanes were shut down from Boychuk Drive to Heritage Crescent.

A vehicle was seen upside down with a red tent popped up beside it, and debris was scattered across both lanes.

Saskatoon police said they were called to the scene at 6:00 a.m CST, and declared the 16-year-old dead at the location of the crash.

Two other 15-year-olds were in the vehicle and have been taken to hospital, with one having minor injuries, and the other is believed to be in serious condition, police say.

Saskatoon Police Service said it is investigating a collision that happened early on Sunday morning on Taylor Street East.

Police say an early investigation shows the driver was travelling at a high speed going east on Taylor Street, and then lost control of the car, hit a pole and rolled the vehicle.

So far police do not believe the driver was impaired at the time of the crash. Police did not identify who was driving the vehicle.

Later Sunday afternoon, traffic restrictions in the area were lifted. Police say the investigation is being continued by the collision analyst unit.
