Uniqlo to open 2 Winnipeg stores — the 1st set for Polo Park this spring

Uniqlo is opening its first two Winnipeg locations — this spring in CF Polo Park and later in the year at St. Vital Centre.

Exact dates for both are still to be determined, a Uniqlo spokesperson said in an email to CBC News.

The popular Japanese apparel company, which says it focuses on high-quality, affordable basics, has 37 stores in Canada and 2,500 around the world.

The Polo Park store will offer the company's LifeWear lineup for men, women, kids, and babies, seasonal collaborations, and the UT (Uniqlo T-shirt) range of graphic T-shirts, plus other items, according to a news release.

Uniqlo also plans to hold a series of career fairs where people can meet company reps to better understand the different roles in the organization.

Uniqlo opened its first store — originally named Unique Clothing Warehouse — in Hiroshima, Japan, in 1984.

It expanded to North American in 2005 with a store in New Jersey. The first Canadian one opened in Toronto in 2016.

Uniqlo now has Canadian locations in Ontario, Quebec, Alberta and British Columbia.
