A Sarnia man has been hit with an attempted murder charge after allegedly running over a man multiple times during a dispute on Saturday.

Sarnia Police were called to a disturbance call at a home on Afton Dr. shortly after midnight between a 21-year-old man and a 40-year-old man.

Police said that during the dispute, the younger man drove his red Mitsubishi SUV on the older man’s front lawn to intentionally damage an e-bike.

Cops said the motorist then left the vehicle and approached the home with a metal pipe before leaving the scene.

Police obtained video evidence and laid charges of dangerous driving, mischief and breach of bail. However, they couldn’t locate the young man.

Suspect involved in second incident

Later in the day, at about 1:46 p.m., cops were called back to the same area for reports of a citizen being hit by vehicle. Officers found a man suffering from serious injuries.

“Video footage showed a red Mitsubishi SUV reversing aggressively toward the victim, striking him, running over him, stopping, then moving forward and running him over again,” Sarnia Police said in a news release.

The vehicle is then fleeing the scene.

The man who was struck by the vehicle was then transported to hospital for urgent care. He was listed in stable condition, although the full extent of his injuries is unknown.

The investigation was transferred to the Criminal Investigations Division.

Hayden Leitch-Forte, 21, of Sarnia, was charged with attempted murder, dangerous driving, mischief and breaching bail. He’s currently being held for bail.
