Man dead, woman injured after altercation in Edgemont

One man is dead after an altercation in the northwest community of Edgemont Friday afternoon.

The incident involved the man, who was in his 40s, and a woman in her 30s. The woman was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

Police were called to the residence, located on Edgemont Court N.W., following reports of an altercation inside the home. Upon their arrival, the man was in medical distress, and despite life-saving efforts of first responders, was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy will be conducted on Jan. 13.

An investigation into the circumstances that led up to the incident is ongoing, but police say they are not looking for any suspects at this time.
