Environment Canada has issued special weather statements for much of the Maritimes, beginning Sunday morning.

New Brunswick

The statement said New Brunswick may see 10 to 20 centimetres of snow, possibly more over the northeastern sections.

Environment Canada said that in southern sections of the province, the snow will later change into ice pellets and freezing rain.

Strong winds could also cause reduced visibility in the province, especially over the northeastern regions.

The messy weather is expected to last until Monday morning.

P.E.I.

P.E.I. will see snow initially, but that will change into ice pellets and then freezing rain by Sunday evening.

It is expected this will turn back to snow early Monday morning and be accompanied by strong winds.

Nova Scotia

Most of Nova Scotia is not covered by weather statements, excluding northern Nova Scotia.

That part of the province is expected to see see snow, which will then turn into ice pellets and then freezing rain and finally rain by late Sunday afternoon or early in the evening.

Environment Canada said it will likely take longer to turn into rain in higher-terrain places, such as the Cobequid Pass.
