Bob Cadigan, former president of Newfoundland and Labrador's offshore oil industry association, has died. He was 67.
Cadigan served as the president and CEO of Noia — later rebranded as Energy NL — from 2008 to 2017.
In a statement Wednesday, Energy NL said Cadigan led the association through challenging times and will be remembered for his dedication and passion for the industry.
"He had the courage of his convictions and was unafraid to take firm stances to better the industry and our members," the statement reads.

"Bob also had the foresight to see opportunities to export the expertise of our members into emerging global markets and he pursued those markets with vigour in order to expand the international reach of the Newfoundland and Labrador supply and service sector."
He died on Monday.
Cadigan's obituary remembers him as an avid lover of life and adventure, most recently completing a 20,000-kilometre motorcycle tour through North America.
He was also a municipal councillor with the Town of Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove.
His funeral will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Outer Cove on Friday at 11 a.m. Donations in his memory can be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society for esophageal cancer research.
