After months of grieving and silence on social media, Kayla Vesia, the wife of Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Alex Vesia, has opened up about the tragic loss of their newborn daughter last year.
“You know, I don’t have much to say, honestly,” Kayla said in a since-deleted TikTok video posted last week, per People. “Alex and I are trying to get through it every day.
“Every day is so different for us and I don’t really have the words.”

Kayla and Alex made the heartbreaking announcement in November that their “beautiful daughter went to heaven.”
Alex, who had been a key relief pitcher for the Dodgers throughout the season, had been left off the team’s roster for the World Series against the Toronto Blue Jays for undisclosed reasons.
“There are no words to describe the pain we’re going through but we hold her in our hearts and cherish every second we had with her,” the couple https://www.instagram.com/p/DQxbOU7kuqn/?hl=en at the time. “Thank you to the Dodgers for their understanding and support during this time. Our baseball family showed up for us and we wouldn’t be able to do this without them.”
During the World Series, pitchers from both the Dodgers and Blue Jays wrote Vesia’s No. 51 on their hats in a show of support.
What did Kayla say?
“I share a lot of Alex and I’s life on here (and) it just felt right to come and say thank you,” Kayla said in her post on Friday. “I am really grateful for the community of you guys just expressing your support and love for us. It really has brought us a lot of comfort during this.”

While wiping away tears, Kayla also admitted that she wasn’t sure what her future social media content would reflect.
“(I don’t know) what this content is going to look like going forward, but I do want to share my journey,” Kayla said. “I don’t know how much I’m gonna share, I don’t know the details, but I do know I want to share if it can help somebody who’s going through the same thing feel like they’re not alone.
“I don’t want to come on the Internet and cry. I don’t think that’s fun for anyone. I think it will be a good outlet to be able to talk and share, different from me and Alex talking with our therapist. It’s just a different outlet. Right now, I don’t have a whole lot to say, just that I am really grateful for you guys and showing so much support and love to us during this time.”

Kayla added that she just wanted to post the clip to “check in” and “say thank you” for all the supportive messages that she and Alex had received since the tragic event.
Advice for her followers
She also advised her followers to “be prepared for everything” during their own pregnancies.
“I was prepared for whatever was going to happen. I wasn’t prepared for not taking my baby home,” she said. “I don’t know what the (new) year is going to bring.
“I’ll slowly be getting back on (social media). Love you guys, and that’s about it for right now.”
