Another round of widespread fog building in southern Alberta will accompany a potential for freezing drizzle in spots beginning Friday night.

Fog will lead to poor visibility from Calgary south toward the international border overnight Friday and into Saturday morning. Patches of freezing drizzle in the far south may lead to slippery roads and sidewalks across the affected areas.

“Visibility will be suddenly reduced at times. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic,” ECCC said in its alert.

Visibility is forecast to drop below 400 metres at times for some locations in southern Alberta, focusing on communities in the southern foothills. Forecasters expect the fog to clear out by Saturday afternoon.

Conditions across the far south, between Lethbridge and Milk River, will also be favourable for patches of freezing drizzle. This light precipitation could leave a slick glaze on exposed surfaces such as roads, sidewalks, and steps.
