Woman dead after being struck by vehicle in midtown Toronto

A woman is dead after being struck by a vehicle in midtown Toronto Wednesday morning.

Just before 7:20 a.m. a woman was struck while walking in the area of Eglinton Avenue E. and Dunfield Avenue, the Toronto Police Service (TPS) said in a social media post on Wednesday. Police said she died following the collision.

Two suspect vehicles fled the scene, according to TPS. One of the vehicles was “possibly a white SUV with front end damage,” police said on social media, and was last seen driving west on Eglinton Avenue.

Police said they do not have a description of the other suspect vehicle, but they said it was last seen on Eglinton Avenue heading east.

The incident is under investigation and Eglinton Avenue E. is closed to traffic and pedestrians between Yonge Street and Lillian Street, according to TPS.
