Autopsies confirm double homicide in southeast Edmonton shooting

Edmonton police have ruled the deaths of two men found with gunshot wounds in southeast Edmonton early last Friday as homicides.

Autopsies carried out by the Edmonton medical examiner’s office on Tuesday and Wednesday this week concluded both Ranveer Gill, 20, and Gurdeep Singh, 26, died of multiple gunshot wounds.

The men were found by Edmonton police officers responding to reports of gunshots in the area of 32 Street and 26 Avenue at 1:43 a.m. on Dec. 12.

Both men were pronounced dead at the scene after lifesaving measures by police and paramedics failed.

In a Thursday news release, police confirmed they believed the incident was a “targeted event” and that the case had been taken over by the homicide section.

Detectives are looking for a dark-coloured SUV that may have been in the area at the time of the shooting.

Anyone in the area of Silverberry Road and 23 Avenue, as well as 34 Street and 29 Street, who may have dash camera or security footage from approximately 2 p.m., on Dec. 11 to 2:30 a.m., on Dec. 12, is being asked to contact police.
