A group of Santa Claus impersonators and a band of masked elves stole thousands of dollars of food from a Metro grocery store in the Plateau neighbourhood Monday night.
The grocery heist took place at 9:40 p.m. Monday on Laurier Ave. near Chambord St., said Montreal police spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant.
The amount of food taken was valued at under $5,000, according to Brabant. Activist group Les soulèvements du fleuve wrote on Instagram that the amount of food was valued at just under $3,000.

Reports show the group is called “Robins des ruelles,” and they allegedly put the food under a Christmas tree in Place Valois in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve.
No arrests have been made, according to Brabant.
“We’re looking into it,” he said, adding that the police are investigating surveillance footage and social media videos.
This report will be updated.
