Fall of ground is typically defined as a collapse of rock, earth or other material in an underground mine.
The statement adds that no further injuries were reported.
The company states its “Emergency Response Team” was “activated” following the incident.
“The site has now been secured and all mining activity has been temporarily halted. A full investigation is underway and Mosaic is working closely with all regulatory authorities,” the statement reads.
It adds that support services are being provided through “the company’s Employee and Family Assistance Program.”
The unattributed statement offers condolences and asks “that the family be given privacy at this difficult time.”
