The Edmonton Oilers are attempting to inject some life into their moribund bottom six by recalling the hottest rookie in the AHL.
Quinn Hutson, who leads all American League freshmen in goals (16) and points (28) in 24 games, is on his way to join the Oilers, who are in need of an injection of youth and speed.
Hutson, 23, leads all Bakersfield Condors in scoring and sits three points off the league lead in points, so he could be a welcome addition to a bottom six in Edmonton that hasn’t been able to create any sort of identity for itself, nor generate anything in the way of consistent offence.

Hutson has been lighting up the minors all season, so it’s time to give him an opportunity to see what he can do with the big club.
The Oilers signed him to a two-year entry-level contract after his NCAA career with Boston University, which included 23 goals and 50 points in 38 games last season.
