An Edmonton man charged in a string of attacks on sex trade workers has admitted to choking and robbing a woman he met on an adult classifieds website.

Christopher Scott Walter pleaded guilty in the Court of King’s Bench Thursday to a count of robbery. He admitted to beating and choking a woman in an Edmonton hotel room last year before stealing her cash, phone and identity documents and briefly fleeing to the United States.

The 24-year-old remains in custody and appeared in the prisoners box in a grey t-shirt and mullet-style haircut. He spoke only to confirm he understood the consequences of his plea. His case is next in court Feb. 6, 2026.

According to an agreed statement of facts, Walter met the victim on LeoList, a classifieds website used by those in the sex trade. The two met July 6, 2024, at the Edmonton Holiday Inn Express on Calgary Trail. They agreed on payment and briefly engaged in consensual sexual activity — though Walter had performance issues and agreed to end the encounter.

As Walter walked to the door of the suite, he punched the woman in the face. He continued to rain blows on her and knocked her to the ground before wrapping his arm around her neck. The woman passed out and awoke 30 to 40 minutes later with a blanket over her face. Several of her belongings were missing including $500 cash, her ID, bank cards and phone.

The woman called Edmonton police, who determined Walter had used her card at a nearby Walmart and grocery store. He was arrested July 10, 2024, while trying to cross into Canada from the United States at the Coutts border crossing.

The agreed facts do not detail how Walter ended up in the U.S. He has requested a pre-sentence report ahead of sentencing next year.

Police initially charged Walter with two counts of aggravated sexual assault, two counts of aggravated assault, and five counts of robbery for alleged attacks on five women. He pleaded guilty to one count of an eight count indictment which included just one named victim and no allegation of sexual assault.
