Montreal reached its first -20°C of the season early Tuesday morning as a lobe of modified Arctic air settled over northern Quebec. The last -20°C recorded in Montreal was on January 25, 2025.

This marks the earliest -20°C at Montréal-Trudeau Airport (YUL) since 2008, with a 17-year gap.
Typically, this freezing milestone is reached closer to Christmas. Nearby communities also recorded their first -20°C of the season.
