A Yellowknife man is facing multiple charges after police say he tried to flee from officers and made a false emergency call to 911 to distract RCMP and avoid arrest.
In a news release Monday, RCMP say that at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Nov. 22, Yellowknife RCMP attempted to conduct a traffic stop.
During the stop, the driver and three other occupants fled in the vehicle. Officers determined the driver was already the subject of an arrest warrant and that the vehicle he was driving had been stolen.

While Yellowknife RCMP were attempting to arrest him the next week, he reported gunshots in Ndilǫ.
Police said they were quickly able to determine that the 911 call was false, and the man was arrested without incident.
The man faces charges of mischief, robbery, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and flight from a peace officer.
He remains in custody.
