Cassandra Messina was alerted to the multi-vehicle crash on Bruce Avenue by the sound of her dog barking early Tuesday morning.

She went outside and saw a car flipped up on its side and several other vehicles damaged — including her own.

"I came out here and it was kind of like a movie scene. It was a little bit crazy," she said.

Windsor police say officers responded to a call about the crash in the area of Bruce Avenue and Giles Boulevard at around 5 a.m. Police said the driver's car is the one that ended up on its side.

"The first car that was hit kind of just forced the chain reaction and kind of pushed everybody together," said Messina.

Cassandra Messina says her vehicle was one of the ones damaged in a chain reaction sparked by a driver hitting a parked car on Bruce Avenue on Tuesday morning.

Police said the 55-year-old driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital. She was charged with careless driving.

Messina says that collisions on Bruce, a busy one-way, are becoming more common. She thinks there should be action taken, like adding speed bumps.

"There's tons of traffic down here," she said. "There's tons of stop signs, but you know, with the population growing and so many people driving around, there's constant accidents."

As for Messina's vehicle, on Tuesday afternoon she was still waiting to hear whether it was salvageable.

"Mine was the one that suffered the least amount of damage, obviously because it was a bigger body vehicle, but right now we're just trying to get insurances sorted and dealing with adjusters, so we'll see."
