The Royal Canadian Mounted Police announced Friday that they had found the body of the second person involved in Wednesday's fatal single-vehicle crash in Newfoundland's southwest coast.

RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Jolene Garland said in a news release Friday morning that the body of the man was recovered from a pond by the RCMP's underwater recovery team.

She said police believe there were only two people in the vehicle. The first man was also found in the pond.

The pond is located between Burnt Islands and Rose Blanche along Route 470 on Newfoundland's southwest coast. Garland said the vehicle left the highway and crashed into the pond, where the bodies of the two men were found.

Garland said that the police are still investigating the crash and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is involved in the case.
