WRPS takes over investigation of body found in a Toronto waste management facility

Waterloo regional police have taken over the death investigation of a body found at a Toronto waste management site.

Toronto police found the body on March 1 at a waste management facility on New Toronto Street, near Islington Avenue and Lake Shore Boulevard W.

Investigators said the body of a man is believed to have been brought to the facility in a waste management truck. Police did not release any other information.

On Saturday, WRPS told CBC KW that they have been in communication with Toronto police regarding this investigation.

"Investigators are taking carriage of the investigation since it is connected to a previous investigation that originated in Waterloo region," Chris Iden, spokesperson for the WRPS, said in an emailed statement.

"Out of respect for the investigation, we are not providing details, but can say we are not investigating this as a homicide. Police do not have any public safety concerns."

Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact them or submit a tip anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
