Two people have been charged with assault after police responded to what they've called an "armed and barricaded situation" at Franklin House in Yellowknife last week.
One of the two suspects was recently released after serving a sentence for manslaughter.
Donovan McNeely and Dean McNeely were two of four people RCMP took into custody following the incident last week, police said in a news release Tuesday morning.
Police said they responded last Thursday night to numerous complaints about someone armed with a knife who was threatening people.
Donovan McNeely, 25, faces two charges of assault with a weapon, as well as one charge of uttering threats. Police have also laid several charges against him in connection with a previous incident, including possessing stolen property, dangerous driving, fleeing from police and failing to remain at the scene of a collision.
Dean McNeely, 27, is charged with assault stemming from Thursday's incident. He has also been charged with possessing stolen property in connection with a previous incident.
Dean McNeely was recently released from prison after serving the final four months of a three-year sentence for manslaughter in the 2020 death of Mark Ryan.
