Man who worked as clown and sexually assaulted girls could have more victims, police say

Police in Longueuil are looking for other possible victims of a man who worked as a clown and sexually assaulted young girls in the late 90s.

Julien Bouchard, 64, was arrested Jan. 18 and charged with sexual assault of a minor. He was released on conditions pending his next court appearance later this month.

The Service de police de l'agglomération de Longueuil (SPAL) says Bouchard was found guilty of sexually assaulting a minor in 2000 and already served time in prison.

A total of five victims, including the latest to come forward, say Bouchard sexually assaulted them between 1996-98.

"In that period of time, Mr. Bouchard was actually acting as a clown and as an animator with teenagers and young minors," said SPAL spokesperson Ghyslain Vallières.

The victims are all female and say they were under the age of 14 at the time of the alleged offences.

Bouchard was also a kayak instructor, leading police to believe there may be other potential victims on Montreal's South Shore or elsewhere in Quebec.

"He could have travelled all over the province," said Vallières.
