Egypt and the Philippines have signed a protocol allowing access of Egyptian citrus fruits into Philippine markets.
In a statement released on its Facebook page on Tuesday, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said the protocol is a real start for co-operation between the two countries in the agricultural field in view of the great interest the two political leaderships are attaching to pushing forward bilateral relations in all domains.
On the occasion of signing the protocol, Egypt’s Ambassador in Manila Ahmed Shehab El Din said the protocol comes as part of the joint efforts exerted by the Egyptian Embassy in Manila over the past two years along with the Agricultural Export Council (AEC) and the Egyptian Agricultural Quarantine at the Ministry of Agriculture to adopt a gradual opening of the Philippines markets before the Egyptian agricultural products.
He also said that Egypt welcomed the access of some competitive agricultural tropical products with high quality from Philippines in view of its moderate prices compared with other countries.
