Sisi, Sheikh Tamim probe ties, regional issues over phone 9 August 2022 01:32 PM: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received on Tuesday a phone call from the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani during which they exchanged views on the developments of a number of regional issues, as part of Arab efforts in facing regional challenges.

During the call, the Qatari emir expressed deep appreciation for the tireless Egyptian efforts on the Arab arena, led by President Sisi, to consolidate regional peace and security, the latest of which was the success of Egypt’s mediation to reach a quick ceasefire between the Palestinians and Israelis and restore calm to the Gaza Strip.

The two leaders discussed some topics within the framework of bilateral cooperation. In this respect, Sheikh Tamim valued the brotherly relations binding the two countries and expressed Qatar’s keenness to strengthen the existing cooperation between the two countries and open new vistas for cooperation.

The two leaders also agreed to continue building on the current momentum in bilateral cooperation between the two countries. They also agreed to push forward mechanisms of consultation and mutual coordination on all issues and successive developments as part of safeguarding Arab national security.
