The Montreal Canadiens may be on a winter break, but that didn’t keep Lane Hutson off the ice Wednesday, when he joined a group of kids for a game of shinny.
The Habs defenceman was at the Bleu Blanc Bouge rink in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce’s Confederation Park on Christmas Eve, where he joined in a pickup game.
The visit came one day after Hutson got three assists in Boston as he helped push the Habs to a 6-2 win over the Bruins — the team’s first victory in Boston since 2019.

In a video, Hutson looks a little more relaxed than he was in Boston, skating along gently as some of the kids move the puck up the ice. A few moments later, Hutson can be seen getting the puck and taking it along the boards, where he faces some opposition from the young players.
Canadiens defenceman Lane Hutson (centre in tuque) joined players at the Bleu Blanc Bouge rink in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce’s Confederation Park on Wednesday December 24, 2025.
Hutson has had 13 points, all assists, in his last eight games. No defenceman in the entire league has tallied more assists in the 2025 calendar year.
