79-year-old dies in hospital after rollover crash near Exeter

A 79-year-old North Middlesex resident was pronounced dead in hospital on Friday following a single-vehicle rollover crash just south of Exeter.

Emergency crews were called to the scene along London Road, or Hwy. 4, around noon on Friday, and located a damaged pickup truck with two occupants inside.

The passenger was rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died, police said. The truck's driver suffered minor injuries.

"Our thoughts go out to the families of those individuals involved," police said.

Police closed a portion of Hwy. 4 through the area into the evening for their investigation.

A stretch of Hwy. 4 from Exeter to Clinton was closed later in the afternoon because of heavy snowfall, however it's unclear if weather played a role in the crash.
