A dentist at a North York clinic has been arrested and accused of sexually assaulting multiple patients last month, Toronto police say.

The 61-year-old male dentist from Toronto is accused of sexually assaulting two women in separate incidents while they received treatment at the dentist's office at Smiles on Steeles dental clinic, police said in a news release Thursday.

The first incident allegedly took place on Nov. 17 and involved a 34-year-old woman. Police alleged the second incident, on Nov. 20, involved a 29-year-old woman.

The dentist was arrested on Nov. 23, police said, and charged with two counts of sexual assault. He is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 6.

Investigators believe there may be more victims. Anyone with more information is asked to contact police or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.

The dentist, originally from Ecuador, has been placed under conditions following his arrest, according to the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario website. He is to have no contact with the alleged victims and must not be alone in the presence of any female patient.
