Police in Abbotsford, B.C., arrest 50-year-old man for woman's death

Police say a man has been arrested following the death of a woman in Abbotsford, B.C., on Friday night.

In a statement, the Abbotsford Police Department said officers responded to a report of an assault at a residence in the 3400-block of Wagner Drive at 10:50 p.m. and found a woman suffering from life-threatening injuries.

"Life-saving efforts were immediately provided, however the victim succumbed to her injuries," the statement reads.

Police say a  50-year-old man, who was known to the victim, was arrested at the scene and remains in custody.

The Abbotsford Police Major Crime Unit will be transferring the case to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) for further investigation.
