From the return of hit shows like The Umbrella Academy and Emily in Paris on Netflix, and Only Murders in the Building on Disney+, to new films like the HBO documentary Elizabeth Taylor: The Lost Tapes on Crave in Canada, there's a variety of new TV and movie content to stream in August. If you're clinging on to that final full month of summer, but feel like you want to stay inside to beat the hot temperatures, we're sure you'll find a new show or movie to sink your teeth into.

Quick Overview

Our favourite reality TV competition is back with The Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras on Paramount+ and the new action-comedy movie Jackpot! with John Cena and Awkwafina on Prime Video is sure to give you a laugh. You can also catch Matt Damon and Casey Affleck teaming up for the movie The Instigators on Apple TV+.

The Toronto-filmed Netflix hit show is about to come to an end with the release of The Umbrella Academy Season 4.

Starring Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min and Ritu Arya, the Hargreeves start the season without their powers as a group called The Keepers have formed, who believe their reality is a lie, and become a threat to the siblings.

Our favourite American in Paris is back, with Netflix splitting up the upcoming season of Emily in Paris into two parts. Part 1 will be released this month, while Part 2 will land on the streaming site in September.

Relationship drama is particularly chaotic going into Emily in Paris Season 4, with Camille (Camille Razat) having a baby with Emily's (Lily Collins) on-and-off love interest Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), while Emily also knows Camille has sparked a relationship with Sofia (Melia Kreiling). And then there's the whole question of whether Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) will leave Paris to go back to London.

We can't wait to find out what happens.
