CAIRO – Egyptian Finance Minister Mohamed Maait issued decision no. 137 of 2023 which obliges 16 institutions and companies to apply a system of unified criteria on calculating taxes on wage and salary as of March 15.

Assistant Finance Minister Reda Abdel Qader said in a statement on Thursday that the enforcement of the system is part of the government and the Finance Ministry’s strategy on applying automation and digital transition of tax systems.

The step also aims to simplify procedures related to salary tax and enable all civil servants to check their payslip, Abdel Qader added.
