‘Cairo to dispatch urgent relief aid to Turkey’

Arabnews24.ca:Monday 6 February 2023 02:16 PM: Egypt Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri said on Monday that Egypt decided to dispatch urgent relief aid in solidarity with the Turkish state and people in facing the repercussions of the earthquake disaster, wishing the success of the ongoing rescue efforts.

The foreign minister’s remarks came during a phone call with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu to offer condolences to the government and people of Turkey on the victims of the horrific earthquake that hit Turkey in the early hours yesterday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said. Minister Shoukri, he added, also conveyed sincere wishes for a speedy recovery of the injured.

Spokesman Abu Zeid said that the Turkish FM received Shoukri’s call with appreciation and gratitude, expressing his country’s thanks for the solidarity that Egypt has shown with Turkey in this terrific disaster.

Meanwhile, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry remains in round-the-clock contact with its embassies in Ankara and Damascus to follow up on the conditions of Egyptians there following the devastating, Spokesman Abu Zeid said, adding that both missions continue to communicate with local authorities to check on the conditions of Egyptian nationals there.
