Arabnews24.ca:Tuesday 4 October 2022 05:04 PM: Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri emphasised Egypt’s keenness to enhance security and stability in the Democratic Republic of Congo, noting that Egypt contributed to the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Congo since the mission’s inception more than twenty years ago. He also stressed that Egypt will spare no effort to provide every possible support in order to bring stability to the various parts of Congo.

The foreign minister remarks came as he met on Tuesday with his Congolese counterpart Christophe Lutundula on the sidelines of the preparatory ministerial meeting for the climate conference held in the capital of Kinshasa, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid said.

During the meeting, the two ministers underscored the importance of strengthening bilateral relations at various levels and the desire to advance co-operation to broader horizons to achieve the interests of the two peoples.

In this context, they discussed the opening of the first direct flights between Cairo and Kinshasa, which started last March, as a step to enhance communication and trade and attract investments between the two countries.

Minister Shoukri discussed with his Congolese counterpart the developments of the Ethiopian dam negotiations file, stressing the constants of the Egyptian position, which is the importance to reach a binding legal agreement based on the well-established rules of international law in this regard.
