Beer spilled, driver charged in Brockville truck rollover

A truck driver has been charged over spilled suds after a tractor-trailer hauling beer kegs tipped over on a Highway 401 ramp in Brockville, Ont., Friday morning.

Leeds County Ontario Provincial Police spokesperson Joey Mason told CBC it appears the driver took the exit too fast around 5:45 a.m.

The highway's eastbound ramps are closed at North Augusta Road, according to Ontario's Ministry of Transportation.

The next closest interchange is on Brockville's Stewart Boulevard.

OPP said the 53-year-old male truck driver received non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital. He faces Highway Traffic Act charges of careless driving and making an unsafe lane change.

Mason said brewer Molson Coors has reached out to police to talk about collecting the beer.

"It's quite the cleanup job," he said.
