Toronto police are searching for two suspects who allegedly defrauded an elderly couple out of $13,000 by impersonating a police officer.

In a news release, police say an elderly couple received a phone call in January from someone claiming to be a police officer. The release says the victims were told their credit cards were fraudulently used and the couple needed to turn the cards over to them.

The victims were told a courier would pick up the credit cards, police say, and the victims were advised to hand over the PINs for the cards.

Police say the suspects went to the victims' home near Wellesley Street East and Sumach Street and received the cards. The suspects later used the cards and charged $13,000 to them.

The first suspect is described as a man with a heavy build, dark beard and flowy hair. He was wearing a black Toronto Raptors ballcap, a black and grey Nike sweater, grey track pants, a brown coat and grey pillow-style slippers with white socks.

The second suspect is a woman with a thin build and long black hair. She was seen wearing a grey hoodie and grey sweatpants.

Police are informing the public because they believe there may be more victims.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.

Suspects are described as a woman with a thin build and long black hair, plus a man with a heavy build, full beard and dark flowy hair.
