The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) says it received three reports of people being stabbed within minutes of each other Monday night.
At 9:40 p.m. PT, VPD responded to reports that a 33-year-old man had been stabbed in the back on Granville Street, near Nelson Street, police said Tuesday in a statement.
Minutes later, police got another call that a 41-year-old man had been stabbed near Granville and Davie Street.
Police said a 32-year-old man was stabbed near Nelson and Granville Street around 9:52 p.m. as patrol officers were responding. It's unclear what the men's injuries are, but police say they are recovering.
A suspect was arrested downtown and is currently in custody, according to police. They have not released any details about the suspect and continue to investigate.
"There is no indication that any of the victims knew each other or the suspect," police said.
'Deeply unsettling': mayor
Mayor Ken Sim issued a statement about the stabbings and also referenced the two women found dead near English Bay earlier this week, calling both incidents "deeply unsettling."
"Though these incidents are unrelated, they have shaken our community. My heartfelt thoughts are with the victims and their families during this extremely challenging time," Sim said.
Police are investigating the deaths of the two women whose bodies were discovered Sunday and Monday.
Investigators say a cause of death has not been established for either woman, and they are trying to determine whether the two deaths are connected.
